Happy Memorial Day

Good Morning,

I hope all is well with everyone. I just want to take a minute to say thanks to all the military and their sacrifices. I have many friends that have served, along with my family too, dad, nephew, brother. It's rainy and dreary here today, good day to stay inside, scrap, read, relax.. I planted my veggie garden yesterday. I think my green thumb has returned.. =) I have all kinds of ideas and plans swimming around in my brain... i want to make my yard look nice too. i just need lots more time... don't we all.

Here are a few pics of what I did.. we have a 40ft x 20ft fenced in area out back that use to be our dog pen. It's been vacant a few years and I thought I'd turn it into something useful since we no longer have a dog that uses the area. Over the last few years, the hubby and I were taking the grass clippings and leaves from the yard and putting them along the fence. the idea was to eventually use that area for a garden. all the compost has made a difference. I barely had to till it up. it was like fluff.

this is a view of the length..

i had lots of little garden bling laying around so put some in my veggie bed. this is a shepards hook with a new wind chime i picked up. that round thing in front is a cute sunflower stepping stone. lots of tomatoes planted in this vacinity.

this is a statue my hubby bought for me for my birthday a few years ago. i love her and found a place for her in the garden. makes me happy looking at it. =)

and lastly, this is a recycled bird bath bottom.. the bird bath broke so i use it now for my gazing ball. this is my newest addition. isn't the red lovely??? who says you can't put a little bling in your garden beds... =)

I planted tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, cabbage, cukes, zucchini, winter squashes, and some watermelon. I will be trellising the squash and watermelon. wish me luck. i will post my progress..

And since this blog is usually about my scrapping, I'll leave you with something I made on NSD that I haven't shared yet. Makes me look forward to summer.

My great niece. Used the new Fancy Pants Rusted Sun line.

Toodles.. have a great day friends.
